Lately, I have been hearing a lot about God's will and how many want to be in it or hopes a certain thing is a part of it. Last semester, I was in that boat--I was on the search for God's will regarding a very particular part of my life. John 16 gave me great comfort.
"I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you" (John 16: 12-15).
Do you feel left in the dark sometimes, like you don't know what's going to happen next? Do you feel as though you have no idea what to do? I know sometimes it seems as if we want God to scream our life's story from the mountain top so that it's clear to us, but the Bible says that He will instead "guide" us into the truth. Remember Elijah? God spoke to him in a soft, still whisper. If He had done anything else, Elijah may have crumbled under the pressure of what God told him. We can't bear the entire load of what God has to say to us all at once or during certain parts of our lives. So instead of searching for God's will on all your own strength, let the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth.
Have you seen people sitting alone in the DC? Eat with them. What about an office door open? Give a friendly hello. Have you told your professors you appreciate their hard work? What about your parents? Have you thanked them for their hard work in raising you? Speak truth into people today. You never know how much they need to hear it.
