Real Love

"We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren" (1 John 3:16).

Guess what? It's still Easter!! And better yet, our Jesus is STILL risen. The Truth goes passed the story into reality. Our God is in fact risen and coming again. He promised, therefore, we can believe with our whole hearts.

Real love is displayed through Jesus Christ giving His life for us, and we are able to know love because He did this. I don't think we're showing real love to our communities, families, friends, church, or even God in the way that we're called to love.

So you're busy studying for a huge test and your neighbor walks in or your mom calls. Give your life to him or her. You see a person sitting alone at lunch. Sit with him or her. Put your plans on the back burner and tend to the needs of those around you. Give a Saturday to your community or pay for yourself and a friend to go see a movie. Lay down your life, wants, plans, and goals for the interests of others. Exercise selflessness by giving and showing real love.
