Thank You

The truth of the matter is that God is good and worthy of praise--despite any degree of turmoil, chaos, and despair.

Thank You for wildflowers, long letters, and morning fog. Thank You for tire swings and willow trees and autumn leaves. Thank You for pumpkin pie and red hair and meadows. Thank You for colorful skin and little children and puppies. Thank You for pregnant bellies and excited daddies and wild berries. Thank You for apple orchards and soccer games and really smooth chocolate. Thank You for freckles, morning clouds, and burning leaves. Thank You for warm hugs, hot cider, and surprises. Thank you for tea, leather chairs, and good books. Thank You for homemade blankets, fresh soup, and rich candles. Thank You for smoothies, bike rides, and crunchy autumn leaves. Thank You for black and blue butterflies, long walks, long talks, and real love. Thank You for clean houses, ballet flats, and day-after cold turkey. Thank You for Grandma's nachos, pretty paper, and woodburning stoves. Thank You.

Thank You for questions, trials, pain, and hopelessness--all these things prod me to seek you. I have nothing else, Lord. You are all I have.

And so You will be found. You are my joy.
